A leading importer and distributor of Fashion Textiles are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Garment Technologist to join their growing friendly team. They are a long established and leading importer and distributor of a wide range of textiles, selling to online sellers and into multiple retailers and wholesale sectors, throughout the UK and Europe.

The Role
- You will work alongside the buying & design teams to create technical specifications on new product development and improving fit on repeat styles.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit and pattern making.
- Create accurate initial workbooks with graded size specification for multiple products.
- Oversee product development from first fit samples through to production to ensure they conform to size and design specifications.
- Compile clear and concise comments to offshore factories, using photos, sketches and specification amends for the production of next samples.
- Promoting quality at all times, whist maintaining a strong commercial attitude.
- Manage the critical path and chasing outstanding samples to ensure that all samples are received into the department in a timely manner, so samples are sealed in time for production.
- Request / approve Lab reports where needed and review with the team pre shipment inspection reports.
Skills Required
- The ideal candidate will
- An experienced garment technologist.
- Lab testing and GPSR (General Product Safely Regulations) Understanding care labels, legal requirements.
- Have a working knowledge of textiles and garment construction. Preferably with an understanding of pattern cutting and grading.
- Be confident, positive and self-motivated.
- Have excellent interpersonal/communications skills. Be a team player but also the ability to work unsupervised and completing tasks to a high quality and to time scales set.
- Possess good planning/admin and organisational skills and be adaptable to change to meet the needs of the business.
