The Company:
Our client is an established supplier of Ladies Fashion who are looking to recruit a creative and talented Graduate / Assistant Knitwear Designer for their busy department. They are a forward-thinking company producing young ladies fashion ranges for a range of High Street stores & retailers including Asda, Oasis, Missguided, Forever 21, JD Sports, Lipsy & ASOS. The ideal candidate will have Knitwear Design experience & have strong CAD skills.

The Role:
- Supporting the Senior Designer.
- Creating and producing commercial Ladies knitwear designs.
- Extensive market research and comp shops.
- Keeping up to date with fashion trends including colours and shapes.
- Working to customer design briefs.
- Delivering products on budget.
- Designing and developing the range from initial concept to finished product.
- Be commercially aware of current trends and themes.
- Demonstrate a good commercial understanding of the high street customer the product is for.
- Working closely with the design team with trend, colour, shape, graphic and fabric direction.
- Interpreting trends and translating them to the customer profile in a commercial way.
- Researching consumer markets, monitoring market trends & identifying potential opportunities.
- Monitoring the product distribution and consumer reactions.
- Working with buyers to develop new product content and creating brand development.
- Working with Merchandising team to ensure all products are designed in line with the Critical Path.
- Working closely with overseas factories and building up good relationships.
- Processing samples as they come into the office.
- Supporting the design team with day-to-day administration.
- Other duties as required.
Skills Required:
- Ideally have a placement, internship or work experience in a similar role.
- Be a 2020 or 2021 Fashion Design Graduate (or similar).
- Have strong CAD skills (Photoshop & Illustrator).
- Be passionate about Knitwear.
- Experience in researching & forecasting trends.
- Have a good commercial eye is essential to the role.
- Good written and verbal communication across all levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
