The Company:
A leading supplier of home furnishings is currently seeking a Product Technologist – Hybrid to join their growing team. As Product Technologist you will be fully involved in the total cradle to grave life span of a range of home furnishing products, ensuring compliance with identified standards. You will be accountable for demonstrating due diligence in the evaluation and approval of agreed product categories, ensuring standards of quality, appearance, durability, safety, functionality, fit for purpose and legal requirements of both the product and the packaging are met at all times.
The Role:
- Working closely with our Sales, Merchandising, Buying, Design and Media Departments to ensure complete product and packaging information is available to produce accurate product specifications.
- Produce full technical documentation for issue to the factories, thus ensuring each product is manufactured and packaged to the highest possible standards and complies with designated specifications. This will cover fabric construction/composition, fabric printing/dyeing/colour, stitching/assembly, folding/packing, care labelling, outer bag, inserts and labelling.
- Request and assess pre-production and pre-shipment seal samples for make-up, stitching, pack and dimensions.
- Assess sealed samples and provide technical support directly back to the factories via e-mail and conference call when required, ensuring critical path milestones are constantly being updated, monitored and target dates met.
- Request, check and grade test reports to ensure fabrics and products perform in accordance with customer requirements.
- Provide support and cover for the Senior Technologist as required.
Skills Required:
- Must have experience in a similar role, ideally within home textiles.
- Technical knowledge of products, specifications and testing.
- A good understanding of manufacturing methods and quality standards.
- Ability to understand and follow a critical path and work to deadlines.
- Organised, and capable of prioritising multiple tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator desirable, but not essential.
- A strong communicator with ability to present confidently via email, audio conferencing and face to face with internal stake holders, suppliers and customers.
- ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast paced environment.
- Competent using Microsoft Excel, Word and Office.
